Again?

Have you ever read the Bible all the way to the end?

How about more than once, twice, more?

Do you wonder why people will repeatedly do this, or in the first place?

Do you believe that His Word is alive?

I heard a story about a boy who was with his grandfather, and the boy said “Why do you read the Bible over and over? Didn’t you get it the first time?” The grandfather replied by saying; “No, I am always learning something new.” “I don’t understand,” says the boy. The grandfather replied; “I’ll explain, but first I want to give you a test. Take the basket that is by the wood stove, go down to the creek, and bring back some water for me.” The boy was very confused as to what this had to do with their conversation, but politely obliged. He ran down to the river, scooped up some water and brought it back to his grandfather. To this 7 year old boy’s surprise, there was no water in the loosely woven basket. “I tried to bring back some water, but the basket is not holding it.” His grandfather replied; “Try it again, you’re not running fast enough.” So the boy went back down to the creek, but this time, after he scooped some more water, he ran as fast as he could to his grandfather, but still no water held. “It didn’t work, the basket has no water.” The grandfather looked down at the basket and once again said; “Do it one more time.” The boy reluctantly did as he was told, only for the same outcome. “This is hopeless! It doesn’t work grandfather!” The elderly man looked at his grandson and said; “Did you notice what happened to the basket? The boy replied as he looked at the basket in his hand, “Yea, the basket was black before, and now it’s all clean.”

His grandfather smiled; “As you read the Bible over and over again, you may not retain it all, but it cleans you in the process.”

Gypsy Smith says; “It’s not how many times you’ve been through the Bible, it’s how many times the Bible has been through you.”

What’s the point to this you say?

You gotta keep reading it, something happens.

Isaiah 55:8 ~ “ For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For, as the heavens are higher than the Earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.”
