Have you ever said something like this? “I can’t wait for my life to start.”
What did you witness around you that made you say this to yourself?
What happens in our mind to make us think this way?
Do we really believe there is a life outside of our own we can move to? Why is it if one area of our life isn’t going as planned we will disregard all the others that are?
Here’s a fact; if you are reading this, you are living your life. Even as I am typing out this blog with all its errors, I too am living my life.
Did you know there is someone right now looking at an area of your life, thinking “I wish my life was like that”…and perhaps even the one area you aren’t happy with.
I was having a conversation with a friend last night. We were discussing various topics and she spoke those words pertaining to one area and I immediately related, I’ve said it too, as a matter of fact I believe this is so prevalent I am writing about it.
Social Media has convinced us that if a person is off on an adventure of a lifetime and you’re doing dishes, you are not living until you’re gone on an adventure. Trust and believe that person on vacation has said the exact same thing, when they were home taking out the trash. Satan has his hands in every area of the world, and especially in the areas of our natural tendency to compare. His entire purpose is to discourage us to a point of hopelessness, and he does this thru our thoughts.
My brother is a world traveler, not as his profession, but because he’s worked very hard for so many years, he’s made it so he can. He will share his adventures with me and I love to see the world thru his photos and videos. But what if I were to observe with my “flesh-centered” eyes, I could begin to compare and think “I am not living!” This is exactly what the enemy wants you to focus on. Here is where freedom and joy come; because I chose to let Jesus into my heart, He’s changed it, softened it somehow, that has resulted in how I look at things around me. I didn’t do that, I couldn’t in my own efforts, God did.
I now observe thru my “spirit-centered” eyes. I love my brother and am so proud of all he’s worked so hard to become. I am thrilled he is living his best life, and it has nothing to do with me. If I were to place myself in those moments where I don’t belong, then I am now thinking of myself first, what happened to the love you have for your fellow man to thrive?
What we see is not all there is, and merely one dimension, but our enemy does not want you to dig any deeper to discover God’s truth. Satan can certainly lead us to deception, but if you are connected to the One truly in charge, you will always have a way out. Let’s turn to the Bible and see what God has to say about this.
I have referenced the following scripture in previous writings, but I find it so valuable, it is worth revisiting;
Ecclesiastes 3:1–8 to everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die; A time to plant, and a time to pluck what is implanted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal;
A time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
A time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones;
A time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to gain, and a time to lose;
A time to keep, and a time to throw away;
A time to tear, and a time to sew;
A time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate;
A time of war, and a time of peace.
This is life. You are living it. No one is exempt from any of above, not one person, but with the help of our Gracious Heavenly Father, who is with you through all these times, will carry you and guide you on the right path if you ask Him. He is faithful to take your heavy load, and give you His peace.
