How do you feel loved and appreciated?
Is it words of affirmation, acts of service, receiving gifts, quality time, or physical touch?
Do you believe these are valid ways one might fully know another’s affection, whether it be romantic, family, or friendship?
How important is it that we find the way our loved one feels and experiences love, and give it to them?
Should they just know you care regardless of actions?
Don’t you think it would be common sense that the Creator of love, and of us, be at the head of every relationship then? If He’s not, why not?
My particular language is words of affirmation. I live for the moments when I finish a work project, to hear how excited they are and that what I did exceeded their expectations.
I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t want that to some extent, especially with the very real epidemic of “not good enough” mentality in the world. We are facing a very real enemy with the Spirit of Comparison, trying to overtake us by way of social media, that coupled with our limited condition of being human, we will reach for our loved ones to help us feel safe and approved. I believe there is a healthy balance in that, as with everything else. Since we all have to live with each other in some form or fashion, sources such as the Love Languages can be a healthy tool, yet ultimately God desires us to seek Him for comfort first and foremost. He is our source for everything we could possibly need. God will use people to show His love, for example my mom. The Lord gave me her as a precious gift. Even though she was far from perfect, her heart was pure, and she loved me the best she could, until He took her home.
We all start out as babies, and when we give our lives to God, start out as baby Christians as well. God will carry us by bringing certain people into our lives for different seasons, to help us grow. He knows we need to lean on them until we can stand on our own, with Him directly. Each of us have a unique path to take with God. He lovingly will begin to remove those crutches(people) when we are to walk on our own. Though we will always need each other while we’re here, we are to go to Him with everything first.
So how do I sum this all up; Let God be God, and seek Him with your whole heart. Also, love others as you would yourself.
Mark 12:30-31 ~ Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. The second is; love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.
Deuteronomy 4:29 ~ you will search for the Lord your God, and you will find Him when you seek Him with all your heart and all your soul.
1 Corinthians 8:6-7 ~ yet for us there is one God,, the Father. All things are from Him, and we exist for Him. And there is one Lord, Jesus Christ. All things are through Him, and we exist through Him. However, not everyone has this knowledge.
Thank you Lord for my loved ones and your words today.
