Why are horse blinders used?

Would you agree a horse may become distracted and spooked if they see an unfamiliar object in their peripheral line of sight?

Is the owner unloving because they limited the horse’s vision?

What if you understood why God has not given you all you wanted, would you see He was protecting you instead?

“But God, you let them have that, why can’t I?”

Did you know if you wanted that thing enough you could have it too, though it may not be good for you, and it’s entirely possible it is not working out for them either they’re just not telling you?

There are many different directions I could go from here, but I will focus on one; Christians are not citizens of this world, our home now belongs in the heavenly realm and there will be nothing on this planet that will truly fulfill the joy we are seeking.

We see with our physical eyes and desire worldly things because we are human, yet our spirit desires to be with God, we are literally being pulled in two different directions. Have you ever purchased that handbag or pair of boots you’ve been saving for and now it’s sitting in your closet and you are focused on something else, but then the very next moment you are sitting in the presence of God Himself and are overwhelmed with love and peace and you wouldn’t want to be anywhere else? This is evidence we are visitors here, and would be wise to put on some blinders as we go about our days, focusing only upward where we are safe and loved.

This quote below I copied from one of Craig Groeschel’s YouTube videos;

“I am a citizen of heaven.

My life belongs to God.

Because earth is not my home, I think differently and I live differently.”

I have to agree with Craig when he went on to say; “Repeat the above often, so it becomes part of your daily mantra.” Reminding yourself that you do not belong here will make it easier to keep those blinders on.

I don’t know about you but my attempt to fit into this world and also stay in God’s presence at the same time is not possible, I firmly believe this is where much of the Christian walk is conflicted. It’s okay not to be popular or successful according to the world, God doesn’t care about that, He cares about our soul and wants us to follow Him so we may truly be fulfilled, He will take care of all “the things” as we seek His Kingdom, it’s all about trust.

Our faith and hope in His word grows as we rely on Him, we begin to see that He has never left us or forsaken us. What all has He brought you through? He will do it again, His word says so.

Thank you Lord for the reminder that we are only visiting here, that we belong with You, and for your words today.
