Do you like to be right?

Do you like to tell others about your rightness?

Do you like to be loving?

Which feels better in your spirit?

Which is more important to you?

Are you trying to accomplish them both equally?

Did you know that pride does not love well, but humility does?

What a beautiful example Jesus gave us as He chose to love more than to be right, and He was perfectly right. If anyone had the position to be right more than loving, it was Him. He walked humbly and let others be drawn in, “I want what He has!

It has to be one of the most difficult moments when we are accused of “being wrong, bad, selfish, or the time we feel this way, of our own making. The pride in our humanness wakes up pretty quickly and we set out our soapbox to take center stage. It’s not pretty, but in that moment we care only about protecting ourselves, and we will do whatever it takes to achieve that goal. What does that reveal to us about our relationship with God? Do we trust Him enough that He will seek justice on our behalf, in the right time? Do we pray to Him at that moment, before acting out? Do we submit it all to Him so He can do His perfect work for us?

The world’s way of justice is very different than God’s way. This verse in the Bible comes to mind:

Isaiah 55: 8-9 ~ “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not my ways.”

“ for as heaven is higher than earth, so my ways are higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

Friends, our example is very powerful and shows more to the world than any words we will ever speak. Though words are essential, if they do not come from the heart, then they will not reach another’s.

Seek the Lord, He will give you all you need. He will save you, protect you, and heal all that is broken in you. Humble yourself before Him and He will promote you in His perfect timing.

Thank you Lord for your words today.
