How did you wake up this morning?
Were you filled with worries and responsibilities, or with expectant hope because God has already taken care of it?
Are you tired of waiting for that one thing, thinking God just didn’t hear you?
Do you really believe all would be well if that situation was solved, and why this particular thing?
Can you think back in your life when there was another problem that was answered?
How long were you thankful before your mind readjusted to focus on the new unfinished thing?
Is it possible we are not supposed to lean into everything we think about?
I celebrated my birthday last week. It wasn’t the big 60 but it’s very close. I love birthday’s in general, it is the only day a person is celebrated for just being alive. There is no test for it, no achievement award or competition to strive for, it just is, and everyone gets one every year! God is awesome that way. He is no respecter of persons, He loves us all the same, and fully. That alone should give us a good indication on just how fair God is. I digress.
In the days leading up to my birthday, my mind focuses on that special day where people call, text and send notes of love and appreciation, it’s pretty much like a personal Christmas day to me. So how do we begin to experience that kind of excitement every day?
Did you know God wants us to feel this way, and that it is absolutely possible?
I have recently began to fully understand that incorporating healthy disciplines, no matter how small, create the biggest impact overtime.
I reflect on the saying “life is a journey, not a destination” and boy it’s true. I have begun to intentionally incorporate small daily workouts, taking healthy supplements, and speaking God’s truths out loud before I see them. The fact is it 100% scientifically changes neuro pathways and begins to create the feelings I want. I no longer have to wait until something happens for the feeling to come. How we speak is directly correlated to how we live. Jesus tells us to first believe and have faith, then He reveals Himself, this is no different. Our ego likes to make us believe we have full power and control, but then along comes a negative thought or feeling and we fall victim to shame and fear over and over.
There are two steps to redirect your minds natural tendency of avoidance to the illusion of pain;
First, give those thoughts and feelings to God. Surrendering all your control because He cares for you. What you have done a f trying to do hasn’t worked before, so change the habit.
Secondly, speak God’s truths out loud. This sign of active faith (living outside of our feelings) is where the true strength and power comes. It is not in our will but His will where peace, joy, and love resides.
Will you give your life and worries to the One who can really do something with it/them?
Thank you Lord for your truths we can claim as your children, and for your words today.
