Have you been praying for something?
Did you feel if it was answered you would be at peace?
Have you ever had a prayer answered?
How long were you thankful before your mind moved to the “next thing?”
Was the problem really the problem?
Our mind is quite the trickster. It will focus on a problem for as long as we let it, and make us think that if it was fixed all would be perfect with the world. But even when that issue gets resolved, it will become lightning fast to move on to the next issue, barely giving us a moment of peace being thankful for the gift of resolution of the prior need…unless we stop and choose gratefulness.
I’ve been praying for several things lately, and quite recently my prayers have been answered. I took a moment and really thought about how long I felt peaceful before my mind moved onto the next thing, it wasn’t very long at all. If I let my mind drive the car of my life, I can see very easily how I could be off the right road pretty fast, struggling on a bumpy terrain, with dirt and sand being kicked up blocking my vision. But here’s what I know that changes all of that, God promises if we take captive all of our thoughts and submit them to Him, proclaiming “I have the mind of Christ, my mind belongs to Jesus” we can overcome the aimless wanderer that is our mind.
God is faithful to give us His peace, no matter the circumstances or thoughts that come barreling at us from all directions. We always have a choice what we think about. We are not our thoughts, so don’t believe the lie. If your thoughts do not line up with the word of God, it is not God, and you can rebuke it and command it to flee in the name of Jesus. His power is higher and greater than anything of this world! Pray for His peace, surrender your struggle to Him, and watch the miracle unfold. It may not be the dopamine hit that things of this world brings, but I promise His peace is unlike anything and a million times better than this world can give you.
