Have you ever been wrongly accused of something?

What thoughts immediately entered your mind?

Did the confrontation cause a tightness in your chest, and where did all the previous thoughts go, they disappeared right?

What used to seem important wasn’t anymore.

What emotions came to the surface; shock, anger, fear, shame?

I have to tell you, just writing this brings my mind to a vague heavy feeling, an evil foreboding if you will. This is what I like to refer to as an open door. The moment your frontal cortex, the logical reasoning part of your brain, completely shuts down and you immediately loose all peace and balance, going into one of the “fight, flight, or freeze” trauma response modes.

I understand the above scenario doesn’t happen to everyone, so I’ll let you find the one that opens your door.

What does the Bible tell us about when we stop thinking with patience and compassion?

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 ~ For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.

Our enemy satan prowls around like a roaring lion looking for these opportunities, i.e. open doors he can step thru and plant seeds. We are commanded by God to stop and submit those thoughts to Him, for His guidance and how to handle the situation.

If you are a Christ follower and call Jesus Lord, you have all you need to shut that door, and lock satan out. God gives us a full body armor for our protection, He knows how this very real enemy works but it is up to us whether we put it on every morning.

Ephesians 6:11-18 ~ Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavily places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.
