What do you believe about God?
Is He a far away, distant Father?
Do you believe He is judging you, making a list of all of your failures?
Where are you getting your information?
Have you researched it and compared it to the Bible?
Do you believe your oh-so-limited life experiences are more important than the Word of God itself?
Are you one who makes a determination about God and Christianity, based on how people in the church behave?
There is a very specific reason why God sent his son to die for every person on this planet, inside and outside the church. You and I are sinful creatures, born of the world. It does not matter if we are saved or unsaved, we are living in a physical body and susceptible to sin. Do you forgive your child if they make a wrong decision? Do you give them another chance to do better? Of course you do! It really doesn’t matter how old we are, our human nature always fights for self first.
Isn’t it interesting that as many times as we counsel someone, child or adult, about the right thing to do, invariably there are those who will choose their own path. Think about all those times in your life you knew the right thing to do, but ignored it and went with your feelings instead, does that make you a bad person? No, it makes you human. Can you see how Satan easily comes in through that cracked doorway to then condemn and tell you how worthless you are?
Let’s take a look at The Truth;
Romans 7:15 ~ For I do not understand what I am doing, because I do not practice what I want to do, but I do what I hate.
Does that sound familiar? It rings a loud bell for me. God knows all too well we have the capacity to make wrong decisions despite our better judgment, that is exactly why Jesus died for our sins. What a gracious and loving father we have!
Deuteronomy 31:6 ~ Be strong and courageous, don’t be terrified or afraid. For the Lord, your God is the one who will go with you. He will not leave you or abandon you.
Isaiah 41:10 ~ “ Do not fear, for I am with you, do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold onto you with my righteous right hand.”
I don’t know about you, but these verses tell me my God is a wonderful loving Father, who is always close and always pursuing me. The Bible also tells me if I confess my sins and ask for forgiveness, He is faithful to forgive me, and will gently guide me and teach me the right path, step by step.
Regardless of what my eyes see, and my emotions spur, I choose to walk by faith and not by sight. I choose God‘s will for my life. I choose to set down my limited understanding of the world, and believe the One who knows all and sees all, how about you?
Won’t you seek him today?
Thank you Lord for your truth, the only truth, and for your words today.
